Mountain Mayhem 2009

Excellent result this year from Team gears for beers, our second time entering the madness that is called mountain mayhem. (First attempt was unfortunately cut short by weather, course conditions, injury, and camp implosion!)

Our camp was secured on Thursday by Dunc from team mud sweat and beers, a roomy pitch which would accommodate both teams very generously leaving lots of play area!
Both teams and team mates made their acquaintances on Friday and started the vital preparations for the race ahead. Food, beer, cider, food, beer, cider, m
ore cider and regrettably for me a small bike and some ply wood jumps! Should have taken heed of the warnings, ‘it’ll end in tears!’ The cider had defiantly clouded my judgement, and after a few successful attempts gaining air and landing smoothly I decided to go for the ‘no footer’ this ended in the over the bars slam to the shoulder. Bad move!
A visit to the nurse and a few painkillers later it was obvious I would not be putting in my best performance this year, although my two laps were quite respectable I was very disappointed.

Team gears for beers finished 49 out of 129 in the Mixed Category.
Team mud sweat and beers finished 129 out of 229 in the Men’s Sport Category.
